Frequently Asked Questions : Q-03

Q: Motion Detection -Details - how does it work? Can it be disabled?

A: The Motion Detection algorithm works almost like the compression algorithm (see Q.
above). The first phase is the same, the only difference is in the applied frame area: the
compression algorithm always processes the whole frame, but the Motion Detection
algorithm may check the defined area only (in case of excluded zones defined - Mask
Editor configuration tools). The second phase compares the number of changed blocks
with the defined threshold (Motion Zone (Blocks)) value. If it is exceeded - the recording
will be activated.

The setting of Motion detection parameters to utmost values (Motion sensitivity to
maximum and Motion Zone (Blocks) to minimum) disables Motion detection. Every
captured (incoming) frame will be recorded by the system in this case.
